定格平均寿命とは
定格平均寿命とは、特定の種類のランプまたは電球の平均寿命のことです。公称電圧および定格電流で動作させた際、大量のランプ群のうち50%（50%）が不点灯に至るまでの時間（単位：時間）を示します。この指標は、製造メーカーが各種ランプの予想耐用年数を決定するために用いられます。大量のランプのうち半数が不点灯になるまでの稼働時間の目安を示すため、照明業界の消費者や専門家にとって重要な仕様です。白熱電球、蛍光灯、HIDランプなどの従来型光源の寿命や耐久性を測る有用な指標となります。なお、定格平均寿命は従来型光源固有のものであり、LED（発光ダイオード）照明には適用されません。LEDランプの寿命測定にはルーメン維持率と呼ばれる別の測定方法が用いられるため、定格平均寿命はLEDランプには該当しません。
