What is Semi-cutoff fixture
A semi-cutoff fixture is a type of lighting fixture commonly used in outdoor applications, particularly as wall packs mounted on walls or poles. Unlike full cutoff fixtures that direct light solely downward, semi-cutoff fixtures have a design that allows some light to escape above the horizontal plane. This means that while the majority of the light is directed downward, a portion of it is also directed upwards, which can contribute to light pollution.
Semi-cutoff fixtures are often chosen for areas that require a moderate amount of downward lighting while still allowing for some upward lighting. They strike a balance between providing sufficient lighting for visibility and offering some aesthetic or ambient lighting. They are not as effective at minimizing light pollution or providing high levels of security compared to full cutoff fixtures.
