What is NIR Light
NIR light, also known as near-infrared light, refers to a specific wavelength of light that falls within the near-infrared spectrum, just beyond the visible spectrum. It is characterized by its monochromatic nature, consisting of a single wavelength. In the lighting industry, NIR light is commonly utilized for various applications, particularly in the field of photobiomodulation (PBM) of eyes and tissues.
NIR light can be obtained through the use of LED arrays and lasers. Lasers, in particular, are capable of producing coherent light energy, allowing for deep tissue penetration. The constant beam emitted by lasers enables targeted delivery of energy to specific areas, and the beam width can be expanded by coupling lasers into fiber optics, facilitating the distribution of energy to larger areas.
