Use RZ050 as an occupancy sensor for your air conditioner to reduce cooling left running in empty rooms. Its PIR sensor detects motion; after your selected no-motion delay, RZ050 sends a learned, discrete infrared OFF command to a compatible split AC.

This automatic AC shutoff responds to a lack of detected motion, not proof that the room is empty. Night Mode suppresses automatic OFF when ambient light is below 1 lux.

Reduce Cooling Without Turning the AC Off

RZ050 can learn temperature commands from a compatible AC remote for temperature setback instead of shutoff. For example, send a 21°C setting on entry and a 28°C setting after the selected no-motion delay to keep cooling available at a higher setpoint.

These temperatures are examples. RZ050 sends the learned IR commands; the air conditioner measures and regulates room temperature.

RZ050 AC Motion Sensor FAQs

Will RZ050 work with my AC or HVAC system?

RZ050 works with compatible infrared-controlled split ACs. If you are looking for an AC motion sensor switch or HVAC occupancy sensor, check the control method: RZ050 sends learned IR commands, without switching mains power or controlling every type of HVAC system. Automatic shutoff requires a discrete OFF code; optional turn-on requires a separate ON code. A single power-toggle code is not supported.

How do I install RZ050 without rewiring the AC?

Insert two AAA batteries, teach RZ050 the required commands from your compatible AC remote, and mount it with adhesive or screws. Position it so the PIR sensor can detect room movement and its IR signal can reach the AC receiver. No AC rewiring is required.

How long do the RZ050 batteries last?

RZ050 uses two AAA batteries, with an expected life of at least one year under normal use, according to the product specification. Five red flashes indicate low battery.

Will RZ050 turn off the AC while I sleep?

RZ050 Night Mode suppresses automatic OFF when ambient light is below 1 lux. This is a light-based operating condition, not continuous detection of a sleeping person. Optional motion-triggered ON remains active when a suitable separate ON command has been learned.

Can RZ050 turn the AC on automatically?

Yes. After the no-motion delay has completed, RZ050 can send a learned ON command when motion is detected again, provided the compatible remote supplies a separate ON code. Relearning the OFF command clears the saved ON command.

Why won’t the AC restart after I turn it off manually?

RZ050 receives no AC status feedback. If you manually switch off the AC while staying in the room, detected movement only resets its delay. Automatic turn-on becomes available again after RZ050 completes the no-motion delay and sends OFF. You can also restart the AC manually with its remote.

Can I use door and window sensors with RZ050?

Standard RZ050 does not connect to external door or window contact sensors. If you need a door sensor to turn off the air conditioner when a door or window is left open, choose the RZ050-DS door and window AC controller with compatible contact sensors.

Can RZ050 change the temperature instead of switching the AC off?

Yes. RZ050 can learn temperature commands from a compatible remote and send a higher cooling setpoint after the selected no-motion delay. It sends the learned setting; the AC measures and regulates room temperature. RZ050 is not a temperature sensor or a continuously regulating thermostat.

Can RZ050 be used as an AC presence sensor?

RZ050 supports occupancy-based AC control through PIR motion detection. If you are comparing air conditioning presence sensors, it may not detect someone who remains still. Choose a suitable delay for seated work; Night Mode suppresses automatic OFF below 1 lux, rather than continuously detecting a sleeping person.
