Unlike shunted sockets, which have internally connected contacts, non-shunted sockets do not have continuity between the contacts. This means that each contact requires its own power lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Non-shunted sockets accommodate the specific requirements of certain lighting systems, such as direct-wire LED lamps. These lamps operate directly from the line voltage and do not rely on a ballast to produce a high start-up voltage like fluorescent lamps.
