Deze lampen hebben een systeemeffici\u00ebntie van 90 lumen per watt of meer, waardoor het zeer effici\u00ebnte lichtbronnen zijn voor buiten-, commerci\u00eble en industri\u00eble verlichtingstoepassingen. HEP-lampen staan bekend om hun vermogen om elektrisch vermogen met een opmerkelijke effici\u00ebntie om te zetten in zichtbaar licht. De kleine lichtbron is de belangrijkste factor die bijdraagt aan de hoge effici\u00ebntie. Deze ontwerpfunctie maakt een zeer hoge armatuureffici\u00ebntie mogelijk, wat betekent dat een aanzienlijke hoeveelheid licht effectief wordt gericht op het gewenste gebied, terwijl energieverspilling wordt geminimaliseerd. Dit maakt HEP-lampen bijzonder geschikt voor toepassingen waar energiebesparing een prioriteit is. Ze hebben doorgaans een verbeterde lichtopbrengst, wat zorgt voor een hoog helderheidsniveau. Ook de kwaliteit van het geproduceerde licht van HEP-lampen is noemenswaardig, met goede kleurweergave-eigenschappen die kleuren nauwkeurig weergeven in vergelijking met een referentielichtbron.
