Melainkan lampu yang tiba-tiba menyala pada jam 11 siang ketika ruangan tersebut sudah terasa seperti teras luar ruangan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Satu perilaku itulah yang membuat penghuni berhenti mempercayai otomatisasi dan mulai menurunkan sekring, menempelkan selotip pada sakelar, atau menonaktifkan fitur. Pada musim panas 2018, sebuah ruang berjemur yang menghadap ke selatan di Arvada, Colorado, mengalami momen tepat seperti itu: kaca setinggi langit-langit, pantulan lantai yang mengilap, dan kipas angin langit-langit yang mengembuskan udara sepanjang hari. Ruangan itu tampak seperti kotak cahaya\u2014pantulan halaman dari salju membuat layar laptop silau\u2014namun lampu tetap terpicu seolah-olah ruangan itu redup. Solusinya tidak mistis. Alat ukur lux murah (alat sekelas Dr.meter LX1330B) membaca hasil yang sangat berbeda di ketinggian meja dibandingkan tepat di bawah sensor. Masalah tersebut diselesaikan dengan memperlakukan sudut pandang sensor sebagai bagian dari instalasi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Di sinilah ketidakpastian harus diakui secara jelas: angka lux yang tepat tidak dapat disamakan antarruangan, dan sering kali bahkan tidak sama antara dua lokasi pemasangan di ruangan yang sama. Tombol putar produsen jarang dikalibrasi ke skala universal.
