Lampu ini memiliki efisiensi sistem sebesar 90 lumen per watt atau lebih, menjadikannya sumber cahaya yang sangat efisien untuk aplikasi pencahayaan luar ruangan, komersial, dan industri. Lampu HEP dikenal karena kemampuannya dalam mengonversi daya listrik menjadi cahaya tampak dengan efisiensi yang sangat tinggi. Ukuran sumber cahayanya yang kecil merupakan faktor utama yang berkontribusi terhadap efisiensi tinggi tersebut. Fitur desain ini memungkinkan efisiensi rumah lampu (luminaire) yang sangat tinggi, yang berarti sejumlah besar cahaya diarahkan secara efektif ke area yang diinginkan sekaligus meminimalkan pemborosan energi.
