It is designed as a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional incandescent bulbs. CFLs are known for their compact size, energy efficiency, and long lifespan. CFLs operate by passing an electric current through a tube that contains a small amount of mercury vapor and a phosphor coating. When the current flows through the tube, it excites the mercury vapor, causing it to emit ultraviolet (UV) light. The phosphor coating on the inside of the tube then converts the UV light into visible light, resulting in the illumination provided by the CFL.<\/p>\n<div
