Unlike full cutoff fixtures that direct light solely downward, semi-cutoff fixtures have a design that allows some light to escape above the horizontal plane. This means that while the majority of the light is directed downward, a portion of it is also directed upwards, which can contribute to light pollution.<\/p><p>Semi-cutoff fixtures are often chosen for areas that require a moderate amount of downward lighting while still allowing for some upward lighting. They strike a balance between providing sufficient lighting for visibility and offering some aesthetic or ambient lighting.
